Installing Backtrack 5r3 in Windows 7 as a virtualbox

Welcome. Today in this post I will explain about how to install backtrack in windows 7 as a virtualbox. Firstly Backtrack is a linux based Operating system that is used by penetration testers. It can be used by you for testing the vulnerability of your site. Let's begin

Step1: Download the .iso image of Backtrack. To download press here

Step 2: Download VM virtualbox on your machine. Chose the version carefully depending on your OS. Download from here.

Step 3: Open VB(Virtual Box) and select new. 


Step 4: Name it as Backtrack, Select type as Linux Select version as Ubuntu 64 bit. <<This is a vital step>>

Step 5: Assign a memory of At least of 2048 Mb.




Step 6: Select Create virtual hard drive now.

           
Step 7: Select VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image) 





Step 8: Select dynamically allocated

                 


Step 9:  Select atleast 20 GB of space and click on create. 

Step 10: Click Settings (We are going to leave mosts defaults on for everything for this How-To) Click Storage à With “IDE Storage” Selected click the Drive Icon with the plus sign on it Choose Add CD/DVD  Choose Disk  Navigate to the BT5 ISO you had downloaded Click Display and assign at least 64MB Click Ok.

Step 11: Click Start and start enjoying it. Remember the default id is root and password is toor and to enter desktop mode type startx and press enter.
